Order of Worship, April 11th, 2021
Greeting: The grace and peace of our Triune God be with you all!
Prelude: Christ the Lord is Risen Today
Prayer of Invocation
Call to Worship: Psalm 27: 1, 4, The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? … One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.
Song: 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)
First Reading: 2nd Chronicles 30:1-12
Song: For All the Saints (Contemporary)
Confession of Sin (Psalm 1) Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Question for Reflection: Do I meditate on the counsel that comes from the world and my own sinful flesh that is contrary to God’s Word, or do I meditate on God’s Word and live in conformity to it?
Corporate Prayer of Confession: Heavenly Father, we confess that instead of meditating upon your Word that would produce within us a delight to please you and would make us fruitful, we have given our minds over to those messages in the world and in our own sinful hearts that displease you, causing us to produce rotten fruit. We turn from our prideful arrogance and sin, resting in Jesus, the eternal Word made flesh, who on the cross took upon Himself all of our wickedness and bore the eternal judgment we deserved. Holy Spirit, renew a right spirit within us so that crave the solid food of God’s Word, and feast upon it day and night. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Assurance of Pardon: Hebrews 10:19-20, “… We have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh.
Leader: Brothers and sisters, this is the Gospel!
People: Thanks be to God!
Affirmation of Faith: Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell.1The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;2 the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
1 Descended into hell: His body remained under the power of death.
2 Holy Catholic Church: The visible Christian church of all times and all places.
Second Reading: Hebrew 13:7-21
Song: How Deep the Father’s Love for Us
Congregational Prayers: Please pray for New Life Vicenza and our members.
The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Sermon: The Calling and Cost of Following Christ (Mark 3:13-21)-Joe Bruhl
Closing Song: Narrow Little Road
The Benediction: 1 Cor 13:14; 1 Pet 2:9
Leader: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all as you go forth to proclaim the excellencies of him
who called you out of darkness and into his marvelous light. Amen.
All: Thanks be to God!
