Order of Worship, February 28th, 2021
*Greeting: The grace and peace of our Triune God be with you all!
*Prayer of Invocation
*Call to Worship: Psalm 8
Leader: O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
People: When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?
Leader: Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,
People: O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth
Hymn: Holy, Holy, Holy
First Reading: Psalm 103
Song: Our Great God
*Confession of Sin: Eph 4:17-24 …you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds…But that is not the way you learned Christ!—assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Question for Reflection: Do I daily put on the new self, created in God’s likeness, or do I indulge the sinful desires of my old self?
Corporate Prayer of Confession: Father, we confess that instead of putting on the new self, created in your likeness, we have indulged our sinful desires and sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. Forgive us, O Lord, as we turn from our sin and trust in Christ who shed His blood for us and rose from the dead to make new creations. Fill us with your Spirit so that we walk in the newness of Spirit-filled life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
*Assurance of Pardon: 2 Cor 517 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Leader: Brothers and sisters, this is the Gospel!
People: Thanks be to God!
*Affirmation of Faith: WCF 4 It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for the manifestation of the glory of his eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, in the beginning, to create—or make out of nothing—the world and everything in it, whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days, and all very good. After God had made everything else, he created mankind. He made them male and female, with rational and immortal souls, endowed with knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness, after his own image.
Second Reading: Hebrews 1-:1-25
Song: Sing to Jesus
*Congregational Prayers: Please pray for New Life Vicenza and our members.
The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
*Sermon: That You May Know (Joe Bruhl)
*Closing Song: In Christ Alone
*The Benediction: 1 Tim 1:17
