*Greeting: The grace and peace of our Triune God be with you all!
*Prelude: Blessed Assurance (Trinity, 693)
*Prayer of Invocation
*Call to Worship: Revelation 7
Leader: After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands
People: And crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
Leader: “Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
People: They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.
Leader: For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Hymn: Come Thou Almighty King (Trinity, 101)
First Reading: Isaiah 40: 1-11
Song: Revelation Song
*Confession of Sin: John 14:1-3 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
– Questions for Reflection: In times of distress, is my heart overwhelmed with grief, sorrow, or anxiety, or do I rest in the sure knowledge that the Lord is with me now, and will return one day to take me where He is?
– Silent Confession.
– Corporate Prayer of Confession: Father, in times of distress, we sometimes allow our hearts to be troubled and overwhelmed with grief and sorrow, and doubt that you are with us always. Forgive us, Lord, as we trust in Christ, who died for our sins and rose from the dead to give us life, and who will return one day to take us where He is. Fill us with your Spirit that we might set our hope firmly in Christ, and live in light of His soon return to make all things new! In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
*Assurance of Pardon: Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Leader: Brothers and sisters, this is the Gospel!
People: Thanks be to God!
*Affirmation of Faith: WLC Q. 90. What will happen to the righteous on the judgment day?
A. On the judgment day, the righteous will be caught up with Christ in the clouds and placed on his right, where they will be publicly acknowledged and acquitted They will join Christ in the judgment of reprobate angels and men and be received into heaven. There they will be completely and forever freed from all sin and misery, filled with unimaginable joy, and made perfectly holy and happy in body and soul, in the vast company of each other and the holy angels; they will be particularly blessed in the visual presence and enjoyment of God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, forever. Such is the perfect and complete fellowship the members of the invisible church will enjoy with Christ in glory at the resurrection and judgment day.
Hymn: Man of Sorrows (Trinity, 246)
Hymn: Before the Throne of God Above
*Congregational Prayers: Please pray for New Life Vicenza and our members.
The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Amen.
